The city also amended “Section R902 Roof covering materials” of the 2015 IRC, as follows:
R902.1 Roof covering materials. Roofs shall be covered with materials as set forth in Sections R904 and R905. Class A, B or C roofing shall be installed on all structures. Classes A, B and C roofing required by this section to be listed shall be tested in accordance with UIL 790 or ASTM E 108.
EXCEPTIONS:
5. Non-classified roof coverings shall be permitted on one-story detached accessory structures used as tool and storage sheds, playhouses and similar uses, provided the floor area does not exceed (area defined by jurisdiction).
